In Koch’s essay, he gives seven strong counter examples of most frequently stated opinions and beliefs of the wrong doings of the death penalty. In those seven arguments, Koch rebuttals each argument, stating why he believes his views are more accurate. He also looks at the opposing views and may agree somewhat with them, but he believes its not the best way to solve the problem. “An innocent person might be executed by mistake” was one of the reasons why the death penalty should not be allowed. Koch comes back with saying “If government functioned only when the possibility of error didn’t exist, government would not function at all.” In that statement he looks at the opposing view, but realizes that a strong rebuttal will make his argument even stronger. Koch gave great examples on why the death penalty should be enforced more often than it is. He also gave many reliable sources and facts, which also leads to a better understanding on Koch’s beliefs.
