Darwinism

...and then provides at least two facts that contradict Darwin’s ideas. Darwin said that the number of intermediate varieties formerly existing on earth is enormous. The author of the article counters this with a strong fact, stating that over a quarter of a million fossils exist in museums around the world, and that very few of these fossils are considered by evolutionists to be intermediate fossils. The author also states that a common mistake is that fossil records are evidence of evolution, when in fact they merely reveal that a new species appeared, fully formed. Another point he argues is that the Cambrian explosion, when invertebrates appeared with no clear ancestors and no proof of evolution, directly contradicts the Darwinian theory of gradual change by evolution. The invertebrates left behind no fossils or imprints showing that they were previously vertebrates and were gradually losing their backbones (Problems). The author of this article basically states that Darwinism should be considered a religion because no matter how many facts are given against it, Darwinism still remains in textbooks and is presented as a “fact” (Problems). In “The Short Proof of Evolution”, Ian Johnston attempts to prove that Darwinism is true. He begins by stating the fact that all living creatures must have a living parent that they came from. Included in this statement is the fact idea that there is no proof that inorganic chemical processes can produce complex living organisms (Johnston). Mr. Johnston never does clearly support this statement with valid evidence, making his argument somewhat weak, as compared to the previous article, in which the author provides a clear, solid fact for every idea he presents. Mr. Johnston also provides another fact that states that “animals are different than other animals,” which is very obvious (Johnston). He supports this statement using the example that vertebrates and invertebrates are different, never really giving a solid fact to give proof to his idea. Ian Johnston argues that Darwinism is true, but never actually gives convincing proof to support his theory (Johnston). The last article, “Darwinism and Hinduism”, is Prasad Golla’s attempt at proving Darwinism to be true by tying it into his religion, Hinduism. He begins his argument by stating that Darwinism has shaken up western religion by raising heated debates and sensitivity to the issue. He then states that he has never met a single Hindu or a single Indian who says that Darwinism is wrong- this is a very weak argument. Golla next attempts to prove his idea by providing a fact that states that Hindu arithmetic is quite simple and easily understood, and that it has evolved according to the Hindu people’s capabilities. He says that the west, on the other hand, has not adapted its number system (Golla). Mr. Golla in no way ties this argument into the evolution of life, but somehow still feels that this statement proves the fact that life was created through evolution, and not by a higher power. The second so-called fact that Mr. Golla provides is that be...
