Two girls even went to the doctor’s office and got to see what they would look like at age 30 if they kept on smoking. I think that’s what changed their minds about smoking. Some kids even got to go to the hospital and talk to people about what happened to them because of smoking. One sweet lady showed the girls pictures of when she was young and how she would model for commercials for smoking. Now, she has no voice box because she got hooked on smoking. That wasn’t really what changed my mind about drugs. It was that so many people die every year from drugs. There were a lot of other movies but I thought these taught me a lot. Something else that taught me a lot and was tons of fun was the skits we did. Each one was very helpful in showing how to handle the situation and not making it harder on yourself to decide what to say, where and when it happens. I just remembered how much I loved doing the D.A.R.E. box because you could ask as many questions as wanted to. They could be private or fun questions about Deputy Manory’s job. Another thing I liked about the box was that when he got it out and asked a question like, “What time is it?” We would reply by yelling, “It’s DARE box time!” It was fun. The second to the last thing I would like to talk about is the officer and DARE dollars. Deputy Manory is a nice guy who makes every lesson really, really fun.
