Edward Norbeck in his book “Religions In Human Life”, in a general way “religions provides comfort, solace and hope to individuals, thereby also contributing to social harmony, and as a moral force that has value to both the individual and his society”. On the other hand, religion also has negative aspects such as “instilling fear (which prescribed religious behaviour also allays) and the seemingly disruptive effects of various religious beliefs and acts”. I believe the fact people feel psychologically comfortable with religion because they are receiving their knowledge “from the past”, they have the certitude that their ancestors are taking care of them. Every religions in the world are based on different philosophies and in order to follow these philosophies, people invented laws and rules which are supposed to be sacred. In the religions of the book, the texts are very clear and the believers try to follow as much as possible the rules. We can clearly see this with the Muslims for example in Somalia where at the age five, the children are put into school in order to learn the Koran by heart.
