Although the lecturer may go at a quick pace, I find personally that I prefer to take notes in full rather than abbreviating and using short hand writing, as it aids me more when reflecting back at my notes for future use, i.e. for coursework and exams. My notes are always headed up to allow me to know what is going to follow under each paragraph. Sub-headings are also used to break down the notes and to make them easier to comprehend, and this way information will be retained in my memory. Another distinct feature of my notes is that I always use bullet points rather than writing in paragraphs. The reason for this is that I find that when my notes are written in paragraphs I find it much more difficult to focus as my attention level starts decreasing and I lose concentration. Whereas when bullet points are used, I feel that my notes are clear and concise and are more comprehendible. I also try to write in one colour and underline or highlight any important points in another colour. This enables me to glance at my notes and know what the main points of it are.
