...with fellow SHRM members, many ideas are brought forth on how to organize and promote our organization. The ability to listen to each person helps me develop a coordinated plan that we can implement. We now send two members to each human resources class to encourage students to become members of SHRM. I plan to work towards listening to human resources majors who are not part of SHRM to find out why they have not joined our student chapter. I also believe that leadership by example is critical to any organization. In working towards our goal to increase the student membership of SHRM on campus, I volunteered to work the booth at the open house. I found a partner and we encouraged other members to work in groups of two during the open house. It became easier for other students to give one hour of their time...
