I did not think of that when I read it, maybe I missed it. I thought that they had lost all faith completely, not that their faith had changed to being in Chris instead. It is interesting how differently Corrie Ten Boom and Chris McCandless react to solitude. You were right to say that Corrie was not as intense or vigorous when she was alone. I don’t think that Chris was the exact opposite but he definitely did not need people as much as Corrie did. He enjoyed solitude but he also enjoyed the company of the people he met on the road, perhaps because they seems to live semi-solitary lives themselves(especially Ron Franz).
