...the songs people sounded as if they were flat or sharp. Some of the instrumentalist weren’t in tune with the other players. In the first song, I think I heard some trumpets playing either flat or sharp I couldn’t tell because the song was not good. A way to avoid this is to tune your instrument every time before playing. TECHNIQUE Technique is when you play the right notes, you tongue, and you have rhythm. In, “SWORD DANCE,” the snare drum missed a beat in the very beginning. In the song, “MARCH of the MEN of HARLIECH,” the clarinets really started to pick up their speed for some reason. In one song the band was tonguing pretty good but in the following song there was absolutely no tonguing. A way to fix this would to practice more on tonguing and not missing any notes. BALANCE Balance is to play all the dynamics and make sure you can hear every part. In just about every song at a certain point the hold band sounded like they were playing totally different songs. Everybody in the band was playing loud and they were playing as they were individuals on the stage by themselves. Basically the band wasn’t at all times playing together. A way to help this situation is to play together as an ensemble and not as individuals. INTERPRETATION Interpretation is the style you play in, the tempo you play, and also dynamics.
