From just sitting watching the sunrise it becomes the rise of mankind and the Image of a God emerges through the words. In abstraction it paints a picture of metonymic character, the silent, temples, calm so deep, more fair, bright and glittering, all connect with the other symbols such as; soul, God, majesty, his own sweet will, and mighty heart, leaving the feeling of some thing far larger than just a small town. Also the colorful use of personification gives a profound affect that no matter how alone he was on the bridge he was never quite. He took the town its self and made it come to life with the people that built it. “ The river glideth at his own sweet will”, and “very houses seem asleep” allow the reader to grasp a strong hold on to the town its self, helps not only relate to the poem, but to William who is in turn showing you the world through his eyes. Also through the use of personification entwines simple human emotions in to the cities ambiance, “ the City now doth, like a garnet, wear” looks at the city as if wearing clothing was another common thing.
