... In the poem “Helen of Troy”, Helen is the speaker. She tells about how men have used her and her beauty. Helen to me seems to be stuck on herself, because throughout the whole poem she talks about how beautiful she is and about how all these men are after her. Helen expresses bitterness in the poem for the gods, because she blames them for all of her problems. I will remember this poem of her because I know many people who are also stuck on themselves and who use their beauty/looks to get what they want. In the poem “To Helen”, an admirer of Helen is the speaker. The speaker seems to think very highly of Helen and believes that she can do no wrong. The admirer longs to be with Helen. This poem represents a more favorable view of Helen because to many people this is how they picture her in their minds. The poems have different speakers and represent different views of Helen.
