If people keep downloading music off the internet instead of buying cd's then eventually the record stores would be point-less. As for the competitive environment, there is always going to be competition for a record store. But, a store as big as independent has an upper hand by being so large and well known. They also get the new cd's on their release date and often make them cheaper than the competitors prices. Because Independent is so large they will do well in the social environment.
