We need community policing due to the rapid social changes and due to the elevation in crime. Community policing offers a way for law enforcement to help re-organize their communities. Developing strong, self-sufficient communities is an essential step in creating an atmosphere in which crime will not flourish. A huge benefit of community policing is bringing police closer to the people. By having stronger ties with the community it will ultimately reduce crime.
