...rest in the field of biology. In the beginning of the experiment, I was actually the first one in the class to refrain from actually dissecting the pig; even just the smell of it made me nauseous. But as I peered inside the small creature, I was amazed by the complex system of its body plan. It was just remarkable to see how the interlocked bones, surrounded by muscle tissues, and the tortuous connection of the blood vessels all over the body with the organs made up a living organism. It was truly an incredible experience to actually see the internal anatomy of a living creature that I always had to imagine from hearing my teacher’s words and seeing in the textbooks. This experience really helped me to appreciate the world of biology and to have a complete different perspective of an intricate interaction within a living organism. Additionally, an interview with an infectious disease researcher at the New York Hospital of Queens had also contributed to my interest in biotechnology. Seeing myself gingerly operating the new equipment just created an explosion within myself from the thought of myself in a research institution, experimenting assiduously to develop new medical device. The researcher’s propensity towards the world of micro-organisms and my chance to explore modern technology used fro bacterial research really helped me to prove to myself what I really enjoy doing.
