...lex is the ideal state of living for a freshman. Students that have to live in a dormitory act as if they aren’t very excited about living on campus. “The summer before college I wasn’t very excited about my living arrangements on campus. The only thing I was excited about was leaving home, but then I was afraid because of the recent crime happening in the area,” said one freshman living in a residents hall, “Now I am grateful I live on campus and I never want to leave.” Another student living off campus said, “I love my apartment, I never want to live on campus because I would feel like I had a ‘full time sit-in mom’, it is scary at times living in an apartment by myself, but I have taken many precautions in order to feel safer.” Living off campus sometimes seems like a blessing, but according to some female residents, they don’t want to live off campus due to the recent crimes.
