Class of 2003, I will miss thee
... Although the simplicity of the past is gone, we look forward to the future and its challenges. The foundation that we’ve built over the past twelve years will help us tackle life’s questions. There is comfort in knowing we will never be alone on our journey. Our families will be beside us. Friends will walk with us and teachers will guide us. We will begin to see various doors in life and realize that every one is an entrance to great possibilities. As many of you may or may not know, I was Boone’s mascot this past football season. I found myself trying to get the crowd to do the wave with very little success. What an impossibility. Maybe it was because of my lack of height or the inability of my voice to carry. Anyway, I think I have your attention now so with your cooperation I’d like to fulfill my undying wish of starting a wave! On the count of three, I’d like the graduating class of 2002 to begin the wave and those in the stands should follow and the wave will go around once. Ready, One, two, three…! Thank you so much! I thought it could never be done! There was a point to that exercise. Can just one person make a difference? Definitely. I’ve done the impossible – created a tidal wave in the UCF arena! It’s hard to believe that a single individual can trigger the actions of hundreds while, simultaneously, hundreds could fulfill one’s dream. With cooperation and focus anything can be accomplished.
