This event was a gathering of approximately 1 million African Americans which brought their people together. Next it speaks of the Labor Movement and how a union called the United Farm Workers, led by a man named Ceaser Chavez, called for a boycott on grapes because of the treatment these farm workers were receiving. This boycott lasted for five years and ended with a victory for the union. Next it talks about the religious movement and how they were able to gain position in American politics. They were able to do this by interviewing political candidates on issues important to religious people and then they published pamphlets and mailed them out with comparisons of the candidates so that people could see where the candidates stood on certain issues. It briefly talks about how Mother’s Against Drunk Driving (MADD) was started when a mother in California lost her daughter to a drunk driver.
