Before putting up the Christmas tree, be sure to have eggnog and cookies along with some Christmas music playing. You may want to light some scented candles to add to the mood. Next put the tree in a tree stand by following directions on the tree stand box. Find a cover skirt to go around the bottom of the tree. If you used a live tree, be sure to add water to the tree every other day and sweep any lose pine needles. Put the skirt around the bottom of the tree and put the angel or star on the top of the tree. A variety of decorations may be used in creating a beautiful Christmas tree. Lights, tinsel, garland, balls, and homemade decorations may be used. The first decoration to be put on is the lights. The lights are the heaviest and most difficult to put on so they must be put on first. Be sure to test your lights for any bulbs that are not working before you string them on the tree. Be sure to plug up the angel or star with the lights. After stringing the lights on the tree, turn on the lights and adjust any if they need to be moved.
