Christian Allegories of "The Matrix"
...he prison and “the real world,“ is where he had to choose between the red and blue pill. The red pill is the path to salvation- it shows reality is a spiritual warfare. The blue pill is the Matrix the prison of sin, a prison for your soul. By choosing the red pill Neo has changed his path, he has broken down the walls of his prison cell. Man is born into his prison of sin, and it’s his choice to break down its walls and enter the path of righteousness. Neo broke the Matrix; he believed in himself and overcame it’s concrete walls and steel bars. Neo escaped the prison of the Matrix and in doing so he showed his God-like qualities. Morpheus believes Neo is “The One,” the one man who can overcome the artificial reality of the Matrix and live outside of its rules. He is an allegory for Jesus because, as the only human with this natural strength, he alone can save humanity. Only Jesus could be the son of God and could heal a sick person with the touch of his hand, while Neo was the only one who could save humanity from the rules of the Matrix. Along with Neo’s natural strength at saving humanity, he like Jesus was resurrected from the dead. After being shot several times in the chest Neo died then rose from the dead and became indestructible. Neo showed characteristics of Jesus throughout the movie. Neo was just like Jesus after he was crucified on the cross and rose again from the dead on Easter. Though Neo showed God-like characteristics, he also showed characteristics of a believer in God. Neo was a believer in Morpheus. He was one of the “Children of Zion,” along with being on Morpheus’ crew of his hovercraft. Neo knows what Morpheus has taught him, that the war is between man and machine. L...
