...vin mentioned when they arrived to Japan, they had to meet their other party at the exit due to rules of customs of the airport. His friend’s dad came to America to work for a short amount of time to work on a project for his job; he then had to return to his country with his family. Kevin and his dad traveled to Japan to visit Toru. Kevin stated that the flight to Japan was very long, thirteen hours. I asked Kevin how different Japan was compared to America, and he stated that the houses were very small, the air was dusty and looked polluted, and that everyone walks everywhere. Kevin mentioned a famous toy store that was three to four stories tall, and it was called “Huru Hink.” He also mentioned that the trees were filled with lots of cherry blossoms. Kevin stated that Toru’s townhouse had two floors with three rooms, and did not have a backyard. Kevin and his dad slept in the family room; Toru’s parents laid out a soft-like couch for them to sleep on. Kevin had a very good experience from his trip to Japan. Kevin’s knowledge of another world is very valuable. He sees the differences between America and Japan in a positive perspective. He does not get discouraged by certain things that are in Japan, and does not compare them to America. He just states the differences that he observed while spending his time in Japan. Kevin has a very good perspective of time and space around his community. Kevin has the knowledge the events of September 11th, and how they have affected the world of traveling anywhere. Through this paper, I have realized that children with experiences like Kevin’s, can relate to the learning process...
