If 2000 children a day were in an accident with a drunk driver or became sick with the same disease there would be a national outcry. D: Statistics from the US Justice Department put the chance of your child becoming missing at 1 in 42. E: According to the Vanished Children's Alliance, every 40 seconds another child is missing or abducted. F: One-third of the abducted children are usually returned safely, the other two-thirds, are never found or are returned for a proper burial. The next question, is Why?? II. Main Point: There are many reasons that Child Abduction is increasing. A. The number of divorces in America has skyrocketed, creating families with estranged parents who abduct the child out of spite. B. Many homes have two parents who work now and the children are left alone more often or in the care of an older sibling. C. Society and its lawsuits have painted children as “property”, leading some to believe they can do with them as they see fit. D. Many more women are unable to conceive children, and out of desperation, abduct. E. The laws for adoption are shrouded in red tape and lead many couples down the road to abduction to fill that void in their life. F. The media has sensationalized this into a national phenomenon and many criminals see it as a way to “get famous”. T...
