Chemicals In Everyday Life

..., which is a very hazardous chemical. In some countries such as India, where the amount of cars driving around is huge, the people wear masks to protect them from the exhaustion of the cheaply made cars. Cars are a great invention, which help us get through our lives easier but scientists will have to invent something to replace them because the Nitrogen Oxide level really shouldn’t get much higher. With the greenhouse effect happening we can’t risk having a too high level of Nitrogen Oxide because it will all get trapped, resulting in us being choked. Nowadays a lot of fertilizers are used on plants, to make them grow bigger, stronger and better quality, but plants are actually excellent chemists on their own. No one knows what effect these fertilizers can have on the environment, which is why we can't say if it’s a bad thing or a good thing. Chemicals are also used for pointless purposes such as beer. A chemical is added to certain beers to make sure that the amount of foam is perfect. Not too much not too little, but the chemical sometimes results in headaches. All the above-mentioned have had effects on the environment, but one that beats them all is pesticide. By saying this I am referring to DDT, the most famous pesticide. A pesticide is a chemical that is sprayed onto plants to kill off insects and bugs that eat the plant. DDT was a pesticide that was prepared back in 1873, but it wasn’t used until 1939. It was used as a pesticide from then onto 1973, and only then, 100 years after it was created they discovered the terrible effect on the environment. DDT affected bird life in a terrible way, it didn’t destroy the living birds directly, but it had a chemical effect on the body of the bird, which resulted in their eggs being weaker than usual. This meant that they broke much easier, killing off bird life. DDT is still being used nowadays in certain countries, still killing off bird life in the environment. Just because a lot of damaging chemicals exist today, it doesn’t mean that scientists aren’t careful when releasing something new to the market. The product is tested (after the release of pesticides such as DDT) and not just once, but several times, but still there are products where the hazardous ef...
