Changes During the High Middle Ages

The harnesses were strangling the horse, so a new harness was also made to help the horse be more productive. The final change mad in farming was the idea of the three-field system. This system allowed farmers to plant a winter crop on one piece of land, a spring crop on one piece of land, and one with nothing so it can have a break for a year. This allowed farmers to use more fields, producing more food, than planting their crop on one half of their land a year. All of these changes brought about a good economic change. With each of these changes, farmers were able to produce a lot more food for a lot more people. Another change that took place during the High Middle Ages was the creation of guilds, which are an association of people who share the same occupation. The first guild to be made was the merchant guild. This guild handled and regulated all trade, and they made up the rules on who could sell what. Guilds enforced the standards of quality of the products it was in charge of. The guild made the prices for everything it sold. Each member of a guild did have to pay the dues of that guild, but normally, the funeral of that person would be covered by the guild. Guilds were opened to the true masters of that trade. To become a master of a trade, you would have to be an apprentice to help learn what to do. These guilds helped regulate prices and also brought the masters of each trade together to discuss the trade.
