Change
...I have experienced changes in my life that were in my control, and changes that were beyond my control. I have never tried to fight change, but learn to accept it as part of life. In my personal opinion, I don’t think I would have achieved anything but disappointment and frustration, if I tried to fight the changes in my life. I have experienced geographical changes, as I moved from my homeland to India and then to Australia. I have experienced changes that were beyond my control like physical changes, and my personal perspective of the world. There are times in my life where my family has tried to initiate change due to various reasons. For example when we moved countries, houses, city or school. Although we were being apprehensive about such changes, we are stimulated by the possibilities and opportunities that will emerge. When we moved from Afghanistan to India, it was supposed to last for 5 months that turned to 5 years. This change was unavoidable; because we didn’t have any control over the period of time we were going to stay in India. When we initiate the change, we are likely to define the experience as exciting. On the other hand, these same changes might be imposed on us by circumstance, or the design of another person. When change is imposed on us, our experience of the change is likely to be quite different. In these situations, we may feel threatened and fearful about the change, and focus heavily on negative outcomes. We may want little to do with the change and find ourselves resisting it fiercely. One of the biggest and horrendous change that was imposed on my life was my father’s death. This is the example of a change in my life where I had no control over, and couldn’t do anything to prevent it.
