The author did it to show other kids how bad his life was then and how it’s a bad thing to go through. Another book that is not only on the 100 banned books list, but also in the top 5 most challenged books is The Adventures of Huckleberry Fin by Mark Twain. Reasons it is challenged is it contain racism and offensive language. The first banning of this book was in Concord public library in 1885. Nowadays it was challenged, but retained on high school reading list at the Lewisville, Texas schools and challenged in English classes at Taylor County High School in Butler, Georgia. I think this book is an old tale that just about everyone knows and it has no reason to go through what it does today when it was banned when it first came out over one hundred years ago. One more book that is again on the 100 banned books list is Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson. It is also in the top twenty of the 100 banned books list. Reasons it’s frequently challenged is because it contains occultism, satanism, and violence. It has frequently been challenged in the Gettysburg, Pennsylvania public schools. One reason the book is always challenged is because the book uses the word ”lord” a lot and not in praise, says the author. Recently two Connecticut residents have been seeking to ban this book from their area. I think this book again should not be on a banned books list.
