Although it is not a guarantee that people who experience crises in their lives will go through severe clinical depression, it is human nature to feel sadness. Specialist Francis Meriwether IV describes the cause of clinical depression as “being an imbalance of the neurotransmitted serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephreine. The nerves that deliver messages from one nerve to another chemically release neurotransmitters. These neurotransmitters are linked to the control of sleep, appetite, pain suppression, and emotions. Therefore, if these neurtotransmitters are disturbed, abnormalities in these characteristics are altered. The dopamine is the control of voluntary movement while the norepinephreine involves memory, wakefulness, and increase in heart rate. All of these parts are crucial in controlling the everyday lives of people”(Meriwether). The causes are unavoidable in most cases but in others, the victim can not control the factors that bring up their clinical depression Clinical depression carries along with it varieties of symptoms that, if untreated, could be detrimental to the well being of the person with depression. People with only mild cases of depression are lucky to get off with symptoms such as hopelessness, sleep disorders, appetite changes, and social withdrawals. Major signs of depression are very serious and life threatening to the people whom contain them.
