...ey would be ruined. She did have a great spiritual experience which began when she was only 26 years of age. The spiritual experience was God showing her soul as he saw it. After seeing this vision, she decided to write what the soul experiences in Purgatory. Saint Catherine of Genoa lived her life as a soul in purgatory, as she was being purified she would write down in her doctrine on Purgatory. She was very active by going to church with daily prayer and receiving of the sacraments. Saint Catherine of Genoa did this because she felt it would help bring her closer to God. She also wrote a dialogue of her soul with the world, she decided to write this to show the soul in worldliness. Saint Catherine wanted to show us how this could be a threat to ourselves. I my own words, I feel that Catherine of Genoa was a very strong individual. It is unfortunate that she had to marry someone in her life that would corrupt her financially.
