Mack and boys plan to give Doc a party and spend good deal of energy acquiring provisions for the party in the process alternately and enriching and enraging Lee Chong, owner of a grocery store on the Row. They set up the party in Doc’s lab, also where he lived, one night while he was gone on a specimen collecting trip. The party begins while they wait for Doc to return.
