A factor for having high disparity and high mortality rate among the African American population pertaining to cancer could be due to social class rather than ethnicity. Socioeconomic status plays a major role with cancer incidence and mortality rates, risk factors and screening prevalence among racial and ethnic minorities. Socioeconomic have other factors regarding to African American’s cancer risks and mortalities since it can predict the likelihood of groups access to education, certain occupations, health insurance, income level, and living conditions, which all can associate with a person’s chance of developing and surviving cancer.
