...things come their way. Unfortunately there was more das time then happy for these characters. When Mandy and three other minor characters suddenly died this created grief for the reader. Mandy’s death saddened me and at the same time I wished she had found a boyfriend. Jeans relationship with Johnny came to a tragic end as he dies. These relationships were the main focus of the plot. Jean, Mandy and Michele planned their spring break trip to Hawaii to be the ultimate vacation. The three girls had known each other since kindergarten. When Jean and Michele develop relationships with their boyfriends Mandy talked to the girls and understood their feelings. By showing no jealousy towards the girls she showed how good of a friend she was. She showed great maturity. Michele was a girl wanting a lot but not giving a lot. Her wealthy family spoilt her a lot. Mandy was from an average family, only having a little more then they needed. Her upbringing taught her to work for what she wanted and to respect others. Michele was not a true friend because she didn’t care how much money was available to her. When it came time to rent a car she spent jean and Mandy’s money on a convertible instead of the economy car they had decided on in L.A. she was not what you call a true friend. This was a valuable lesson learned. Information learned during my personal reading includes knowledge of the skills required for scuba diving. While diving you have to keep checking you pressure gauge on your tank. One should always surface (if you’re a beginner) with five thousand PSI (pounds per square inch) left in your tank. When you’re resurfacing you have to come up slow, and wait three minutes every few feet. Coming up too quickly can give you the bends (nitrogen in you blood) or rupture your lungs from compressed air. This information was important because of their chosen vacation destination.
