bullfighting and courage....
...been a part of their culture and lives for many, many years. An activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively. An active pastime; recreation. That’s the definition of “sport” according to Webster’s. When people say that bullfighting is an “Art” and not a “Sport” I would definitely disagree with them. Bullfighting falls into the definition Webster provides us with. It involves physical exertion and is governed by a set of rules and or customs, it also involves much more. It involves both courage and bravery. I would define courage and bravery as being one in the same. The state or quality of mind or spirit that enables one to face danger, fear, or vicissitudes with self-possession, confidence, and resolution. In this lifetime you will meet many people, but only one or two of those people will stand out as being brave and courageous, and for me that person would have to be Nicole. Nicole and I met about a year and a half ago when I moved form Charlotte to Wilmington. She and i quickly became best friends and i absolutely love her to death, probably because i know deep down she is the most courageous person i have ever met or will ever meet in my entire life. She hasn’t had the best home life, her parents are over-achievers and expect more out of Nicole than she can possibly give. Juggling three AP classes (making the A/B honor roll every semester), two sports, and a job she’s very busy, but that not enough for her parents. She needs to be the best, stand out the most. Making a B in an AP course is just not acceptable to her parents, it MUST be an A. She rarely gets home on school nights before 10:00 pm, due to her various activities but her parents expect her to study until she can’t study anymore. So every night Nicole goes home, knowing that her parents are going to yell at her for not doing something right, and make her stay up for hours studying. If i were her i know i couldn’t take that much pressure from my parents, i would give up, but not Nicole. She has courage, bravery.... she’s brave enough to go ...
