He has many adventures while he is on his trip. When it was raining Brian was sleeping in his tent, and it rained so hard that the tent slipped down the hill and Brian got a arrow stuck in his leg, and he smacked his head on the canoe. Brian shot a goose and when he went back to camp there was a man there boiling water. The old man talked to Brian about animal guides, and told him that a deer was his animal guide. Brian reads Romeo and Juliet to two otter who were lying on their backs in the water listening attentively. When Brian is two lakes away from the Smallhorns he decides to continue his journey by going west, rather than seeing the Smallhorns. Brian’s Return Gary Paulsen Main character: Brian Robeson Brian is a 16 year old high school student, who’s life was changed by living and learning to survive in the wilderness for 54 days. He feels out of place in the city with all the noise, and wishes to be back in the wilderness listening to the sounds of the trees.
