Boys and Girls
...m as boys and girls, but they see each other as that kid. We bring them up as “you’re a little boy go play with that sword”, and, “you’re a girl, play with dolls”. A lot of times kids will flip it and play with what are supposed to be the opposite sex’s toy. Daddy can’t have his little man play with a girl’s toy and mommy can’t have her precious play with that “mean toy”. It doesn’t even take that because they will usually go into the roles we try to steer them to by themselves. Now we go from playing with about any toy we can get our hands on to totally abandoning that, and becoming “Miss Dante” or “Mr. Macho man”. Boys and girls totally separate in elementary school. The “cootie” complex develops. Boys play only with boys, girls play only with girls. Boys have cooties, and boys hate girls. You can forget getting boys to play with dolls. Boys and girls become polar opposites of one another. They associate with the same sex and want nothing to do with the opposite sex. How things can change in a few years.
