...r true thoughts and feelings for whatever reasons. But a poem can describe even our deepest, most hidden emotions without consequence. And what greater truth is there than what we feel inside. Passion, rage, jealousy, and all emotions can flow uninhibited to the page. And there is truth in those emotions that everyone can understand and relate to. When I think of a poet, no specific image comes to my mind. I don’t see a skinny depressed man crying over his lost love. Poetry is for everyone. Feelings do not discriminate. We all have emotions and poetry is nothing more than an honest expression of those emotions. We all have what it takes to be a poet. All you have to do is tap your soul and let yourself pour into the verses. When I think of a poet I see someone who is in touch with themselves. A person that has a real image of themselves as a person and can express that image through words. A poet can look past what they see in front of them and find a deeper meaning. Why does a poet write poetry? Why does a pilot fly? Why does an actor act? Why does a musician play music? I think the answer to all these questions is very simple. Its what they love. It is who they are. They are all different expressions of themselves. What would a poet be without poetry? Nothing. A poet writes poetry because it is who they are.
