...rice of other dealers. When he approached them about this to see if they would match the deal, he was met with a flat “no”. I discovered this to be true when I found the same bike at a dealer in Farmington for thousands less. We have heard this same story from other bikers. The dealership owner finally realized this problem recently and has gotten rid of quite a few of the previous staff and created some new member benefits. He is trying to create loyalty to his dealership, this is important as people replace old bikes with new or upgrade what they have. We ended up making our purchase in Farmington. Charles did join the Motown chapter of Hog members, just because it is so close to home. They have a lot of member activities like concerts in their back lot. This summer we saw Steppenwolf there for a mere fifteen dollars each. It was great; the band is comprised of most of the original members and sounded great. This Hog group also holds fundraisers for the Penrickton Center for the Blind. A large portion of the funds raised from the concerts, barbecues and assorted rides are contributed to the center. A Harley changes your world. As you ride down the street all the other Harley bikers raise their hand to say hello. It reminds me of a secret handshake. I was surprised at the assortment of people who own bikes. Bikers include your hell’s Angels type biker to lawyers and physicians. They are all pretty friendly. You can tell the difference when you see them. I find that yuppie bikers like us deck out in Harley garb and our leathers don’t look worn. We are more likely to trailer our bikes to Daytona for Octoberfest than to actually ride it there. We always check the weather report before we ride, hating to be riding in the rain. You can catch us riding in shorts and tennis shoes, a sure sign of “yuppie” riders. The “real” bikers don’t wear any Harley garb except black t-shirts with different dealer logo’s on them. Their leathers are usually worn from being used in all types of weather. They never trailer their bikes anywhere, riding no matter what the weather. They always wear boots, jeans and a t-shirt with either their leather vest or jacket depending on the weather. These bikers want the helmet law repealed, not because they want to ride without a helmet, but because they want the opportunity to choose what they want to ride with on their head. There is no better feeling than to be cruising along the open road on a hot day on your Harley. I personally have no interest in actually being the driver of the bike. I am more than content to be the passenger. We attended one ride this year along with about thirty other bikes. You ride two to a lane, side by side. It was really a kick, because every where you go, people sto...
