...began a tumultuous journey in my education. It took me 10 years and a plethora of odd jobs to graduate from UTEP with a Bachelors Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in Elementary Education. I am proud to say that I am the first one in my family to graduate from college. I truly believe that I have set the standard for my nieces to follow. I made sure they were there for my commencement. Hard work and perseverance does pay off in the end, although my desire for learning has not ended. I am a 5th grade monolingual teacher at Ascarate Elementary where our motto is “ Whatever it takes.” I am also the 6th grade girls basketball coach and Chess coach.
