The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam is the national liberation movement of the Tamils. It is an organisation with a long history of the Tamil liberation struggle for the past 24 years. It is a national organisation with an infrastructure consisting of military, political, social, economic and legal institutions. It. has been forced to resort to armed struggle after all the democratic and non-violent struggle of the Tamil people to win their legitimate rights had ended in failure. The Sri Lankan Government which had left no stone unturned to disrupt the popularity of the Liberation Tigers all over the world by its false propaganda and legal procedures has finally unleashed its tentacles of international terrorism. Therefore, we people have been treated unfair by the Sinhalese Government. For instance, about 100,000 Indian Tamils still remained stateless until the 1980’s as the Sri Lanka Government did not carry out the agreement of granting the Indian Tamils the Sri Lankan citizenship. The Sinhalese government even went to this extent to allow poor Sinhalese peasants to occupy the lands of the Tamils. Even the Sri Lankan Army, consisting of mostly Sinhalese people, came to occupy their homelands. Now this was truly unfair for the us Tamils.
