Barry Sanders
...ry move on and off the field is a constant film replayed over and over by all. Some athletes can deal with the spotlight, while other athletes break under the pressure like a porcelain doll heaved at an oncoming locomotive. Barry, although usually avoids the spotlight, has been in the full gleam of it's shine since he entered the NFL in 1989. He has never shown any signs of breaking even under the terribly tremendous pressure he faces every year. Since his team, the Lions, usually are bad, as of recently, very bad, he is forced to carry the offensive load for his team. Showing his willingness to be a team player. A team player he definitely is. One time in 1990 it was the last game of the season and the Lions were actually far enough ahead that the secondary scrubs could come climbing in. And when he does reach an incredibly high plateau of a personal goal, such as in 1997 when he surpassed the impossible mark of 2000 yards in a season, he shares the wealth with the team. After breaking that boundary of 2000 yards, Barry briskly gave each of his offensive linemen a solid gold Rolex watch. Whether this gesture of kindness was an attempt to convince his sluggishly slow line to beef up the quickness or just as a reward for a great season, I don not know. I do know that his blockers are not the best at making holes for Barry to run through. To be as good as he, you must be determined. Determined he definitely is. Being a little ant in a world of giant beetles, Barry must be very determined. Since he is only 5 feet 8 inches tall and 200 pounds he must have a special gift in another area. This area is quickness, he has moves to elude that were made in the heavens. A lot of these stylistic wonders can be attributed to natural ability, but most of it is owed to determination. The continuous drive to never give up that is bestowed to all great athletes. The continuos drive that allows him to break tackle...
