He hope that his friends were successful in the state just as he is, but only if they deserved it. He also believed that no one should have advantages or benefits from the government or the law. He showed his fairness and honesty that he had towards Rome. He received lots of praise from followers and was titled “Father of His Country”, however he did not consider himself all superior than his followers but one of them. He felt his was just one of them, but only in charge. He was unlike any other leader. He was with out ego and was determined to make a change. The identity of the author does impact the way they present Augustus due to how interested or how fanatical they might be towards him. Suetonius whose from was the son of a knightly family and has had experience in military and government, wrote many biographies on Roman emperors including Augustus, which he shows much interest in. However, he presents Augustus in more of a neutral way. He gives him all the credit he deserves and showed some unenthusiastic viewpoints. Such as Augustus thoughts of giving up his power.
