...for this question - how shall we than live? - is something I've been discovering and seeking out recently. Colson impacted me with his simple yet deeply profound and true answers to life's greatest questions for myself such as; Where did I come from? who am I? What has gone wrong with the world? What can I do to fix it? All of these questions point to Jesus. He is the answer to everything. I was created by Jesus, then I fell away through my sin, but am now redeemed through the cross. This has been a simple Sunday school answer for me, yet I was deeply changed through the knowledge that truly all I need is Jesus. And what is also amazing is that this can also be applied to the world, for God created the world, and the world has fallen away, yet it can be redeemed through the blood of Christ, and we are Christ's agents to the world. This is an amazing concept, there is hope! Colson's second article Christianity is a worldview helped me to understand how I can apply a christian worldview to my life, and how I can be an influence on the secular world. I learnt that Jesus calls all of us as christians to perform the great commission and the cultural commission, through our own various vocations, and careers. I feel my calling is to incorporate a biblical worldview into music, and the arts. Consequently, I am starting to realize that God has a plan, and is able to use anybody in any situation for his Glory, and that encourages me. I feel enlivened and strengthened in my faith and calling. Praise God. Supporting Arguments: -Our culture desperately needs Jesus's morality, since our culture is at best morally indifferent (p.1). -"Evangelism and cultural renewal are both divinely ordained duties" (p.3). -"Only Christianity provides a reasonable strategy for how we are to live in the real world" (p.3). Article #2: Christianity is a Worldview, by Colson Thesis: It is essential to understand Christianity as a worldview ("the sum total of our beliefs about the world that directs our daily decisions and actions", Pg. 7) and to understand what this worldview is based upon and what other worldviews are based on, and what they are so that we as christians may fill both the great commission and the cultural commission. Supporting Arguments: -The choices that we make in life are all greatly shaped by our worldview - by what we believe is right and wrong, good, real, true, and beautiful (p.5). -Wisdom is the understanding of life's laws - the knowledge of God's world and then fitting oneself into it (p.6). -"Genuine Christianity is a way of seeing and comprehending all reality" (p.7). Reflection/Analysis: Colson's first article How now shall we live reaffirmed and deepend my faith and understanding with my Creator, ...
