He said, “When the policy was in effect I would rarely miss more than three days, but now I just make sure I don’t pass the 10 absent policy.” The decision to do away with this policy wasn’t done by the principle or the school board but instead the governor, Jeb Bush. (Wicks) This policy offered tons of relief for many students, for not having to put up with the pressure of semester exams. One may ask how come Jeb Bush did away with this policy. He figured if a student has a superb attendance record, that they should excel on the semester exams. Jeb thought that since there was no exemption policy in college. That students would be unprepared when they entered that level in their education. Bush also thought that it was to simple for students to go through the semester without having to do any work at all. All these factors resulted in the revoking of the exam exemption policy. To the critics opinion that if we are there then we should be able to pass the semester exam. A semester last eighteen weeks nearly impossible to remember facts in that span. It is understandable to remember the key fact, but students are tested on even the minute facts.
