To quote the Declaration in its first line “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty & the pursuit of happiness.” It says it all there. The King knows she defied him, and must punish her for her actions. Even though she is considered a rebel, Antigone calls on natural law and claims that law and responsibility are bigger than Creon is and that it comes from above. Natural state of man is freedom and is equal to all men around the world. Antigone says to King Creon that he is governing in isolation. The King does not acquiesce to her demands and banishes her to her death, even though the gods side with Antigone. The Declaration of Independence goes on to say that whenever any form of government becomes destructive, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it.
