Without the firm hand of the government official before them, what's to stop these men from doing away with crucial laws such as the bill of rights or running havoc with the whole of the government by changing polices such as the Rotation of Office? Plus, on top of that, the Spoils System was really just a more elaborate bribery to get people to support Jackson. Another action that Jackson took a stand on was rotation in office. People were rotated so many times that it made their heads spin. Jackson's idea was to have a set number of years that a person could serve, then they were rotated "out of office" and replaced. Oftentimes, the replacements were of those who supported Jackson. I view this system as completely unethical. Good men who had served for years in office, previous to Jackson's presidency, were suddenly without a job. And the men who replaced them, Jackson's supporters, more times than not didn't even know what they were doing. This posed a huge problem in the office and the whole rotation idea, in my view, just bombed. I don't see the reason for rotating perfectly capable men out of office to be replaced with inexperienced personnel ...
