analysis of Alice in wonderland
...the shelf because she is afraid if she drops it she may hit someone if she were to drop it. She also shows her curiosity through many of her different actions. She is also careful and curious at the same time when she finds the bottle labled "DRINK ME" she wanted to drink it but didnt immediately for fear of it being poison. In the novel it says "...this bottle was not marked `poison', so Alice ventured to taste it, finding it very nice". Alice is a girl that is exploring the world around her, but finds that she is more mature than the creatures in Wonderland. Alice is very well mannered to the creatures of Wonderland. Alice shows her good manners when she enters the white rabbits house and the rabbit tells Alice to go fetch his gloves and fan, "I'd better take his fan and gloves- that is if I can find them", because Alice is a guest she follows the owners orders. When she meets the caterpillar she calls him sir and these two examples show her respect towards the creatures of wonderland. Alice meets many different characters which in the end help her find her way out of wonderland. The story starts out when Alice drifts away from her work and chases the white rabbit wearing a coat and has a pocket watch which isnt normally seen. This white rabbit describes part of the adult world with his concern of time and where he should be on that time. She meets a caterpallar who she speaks to for quite some time. Other characters she meets along her journey are the characters that she meets at the tea party, one of which is the Mad Hatter who seems to be a child trapped inside the body of an adult. She also meets the Duchess who seems to be an evil woman. All of the characters in the novel seem to be a bit mad, the Cheshire Cat even states that everyone in Wonderland is a little bit mad. Wonderland is a place where nothing seems to make sense to Alice. She starts to become frustrated and confused. When Alice meets the caterpillar the following conversation takes place, "Who are you!' the caterpillar asked ... `I - I hardly know, Sir, just at present - at least I know who I was when I got up this morning' ... ", Alice is so confused she does not even know who she is. Alice is curious because she is very young and she is still finding out about the world around her, but even the confused the characters help her find her way home by the end of the novel. She is a lost girl in world that she has no idea the purpose of her being there. She attempts to find her way home throughout the novel but meets many unusual cratures that dont make any logical sense to her about why or how they can do the things they are doing. In this land she becomes scared because she is not use to this unusual world around her and learning what it is made of and how it functions.
