Stress can be the simple task of driving to work, and as difficult as being unemployed or even worse. Stress is broken down into two categories positive and negative. Positive stress is needed in our everyday life; it adds excitement to our lives. Stress as a positive influence can help us to action; it can result in a new awareness and an exciting new perspective (Carol Spiers Associates, 2003). We tend to thrive under positive stress as it can help us achieve or attain a higher standard of living or accomplish a goal. Unlike positive stress negative stress can have a serious impact our lives and health. It can affect our job performances, inhibit our ability to make decisions, destroy our relationships both personally and professionally, and can make us ill. As stated by Carol Hartman, M.B.A., M.S.P. negative stress is defined as an unusual (or stressful) event that occurs in our life that we feel we cannot control or cope with.
