...merica. The slave, from whose eyes the entire flashback was seen, was a rich farm owner with family, servants, and land. One day, while he was grazing around his land, several men crept up from behind him, threw a net over him, and captured him. When he spoke, he was beaten with a bat, and if he attempted to fight back, he would have been killed. Immediately, he was thrown onto a ship, and was kept in conditions worse than those of animals, along with many other slaves who were captured and treated similarly. Once in Cuba, they were soaped and washed like kings, since they were going to be sold to people who would use them in cheap labor. The scene was like a fashion show, where men walk across the stage, with people screaming, and placing bids. Except, the intention was much different, and the atmosphere was filled with the egos and wealth of the buyers, and the anger and helplessness of the Africans. Once sold, the “narrator” was sold to a man who came on a ship named “La Amistad.” The conditions and treatment on La Amistad were similar to those of the previous, possibly worse. The chains around the neck and feet were attached to their neighbor, and to large piece of wood. The narrator was in luck though, since he had a large nail like item, which he had saved, since his wife had given it to him. He used this to unhook the chains from the large pieces of wood, and freed all the slaves. Following this freedom, they rebelled against the crew of the ship, and took it over. Only the JLLKJKLKLKLKL survive...
