...ks are in their ditches and filthy cabins. From 1948-1994, the Africans lived in homelands, this time was called the Apartheid. These homelands were put by the Afrikaners. In the homelands, Africans were put into little sections in Africa so that they could know who was there. There were laws that were put out like the Group Areas Act saying that people of a culture could only stay in one particular area. Black people couldn't live near blacks, or own their own land. There were people that ofcourse disagreed with this type of discrimination. Steve Biko and the famous Nelson Mandela are two that hated these type of Acts. Steve Biko beleived in the right of being equal, that was the Black Consciousness, as they called it. All that these people wanted was freedom, from discrimination and the ability to walk around freely where they want, when they want. These men were just trying to get that, and sometimes Mandela would be in hiding, because if he aws caught, he would be taken away, and who knows what might have happened to him. During the times of hatred and discomfortness, Mandela kept trying and so did Steve Biko. They wanted everyone to be treated equaly and to get what Africa needed, which was comfortness. These two men tried and tried and always did campaigns and wrote what they believed in and what Africa deserved, which was again, equality.
