...ly. Now, in today’s world, discrimination is not half as prominent as it was in the 60’s and earlier. Yeah, you can still find rednecks and bigots in the U.S. but there aren’t nearly as many today as there was back then. I think that now minorities have more then they ever have had before, they are equal in everything. Granted, I think that what happened a long time ago with slavery and even later than that with all the discrimination against minorities was horrible. But there is no connection to a kid today and those horrible things. Maybe there parents were discriminated against, ok, but what right does that give them to take a spot in a college that they didn’t earn, or are not as qualified to have. A kid with a 2.0 GPA does not have the right to take the place of a kid with a 3.4 GPA just because he is black and his ancestors were slaves. If the situation was reversed and the white kid had a 2.0 they wouldn’t even look at his application. I believe that affirmative action is wrong and should be abolished. I think that on all college applications there shouldn’t even be a section that asks you your race or nationality.
