This ad caught my attention mainly because of its’ appeal to my wants and desires. In the ad you see that just by using a visa card you can win two tickets to five of the most publicized sports events. If you saw an ad with the word “win” in the middle of the advertisement, what would you think? Let me tell you what I would think. Wow, maybe I can be one of the lucky ones who actually win the prize. How cool would that be? The ad falsely brings the reader to the conclusion that he or she is the only person who will win the prize, which makes me think that I should enter because I will win. One key aspect about the ad is the way in which the pictures showcasing the prize that can be won are laid out on the page. They creatively used postage stamp like pictures to give the illusion of travel to the reader. This is important for several reasons. First, if I win the prize, which pays for the cost of travel? Visa does, but what they don’t tell you but what is implied that once you get to the location, you will spend more money, using the Visa, because you didn’t have to spend any money anywhere else. This is an advantage to Visa because they earn more of your hard earned money, through a free trip that you won by using a credit card in the first place. If I were someone who perhaps did not happen to like car racing or horse racing, the ad would still be of interest because they included a prize package that appeals to many groups of different types of people. This influences me to think that Visa is trying hard to reach a wide customer appeal. They succeed in doing this by providing things that several people would see themselves doing. Besides the pictures, the use of the keyword “Win” is probably the most important aspect of this advertisement because it is the word that one’s eyes first see when one takes a look at the ad. It also happens to mainly draw my attention because anytime I have the opportunity to win something I would usually pay close attention...
