..., he joined the Nazi party and quickly became a leader due to his speaking skills. In 1923, Hitler was arrested while trying to take over the Bavarian government. Adolf spent nine months in prison. While in prison he wrote Mein Kampf which tells about his plans for Germany. When he was released from prison he made the Nazi party stronger than ever. In 1930, Germany went in to depression, Adolf told the people that the depression was cause by the Jews. He then promised to put his efforts into getting rid of all Jews. In July of 1932, Nazis became the strongest party in Germany. Hitler was even appointed Chancellor of Germany. Because of this position it was easy for Hitler to turn Germany into a dictatorship. In 1934 he got the title “Fuehrer”, which means leader. With Hitler as dictator the entire government was ruled by him. He called his government the Third Reich. The government controlled everything people did. Hitler brainwashed people into believing that there was a perfect race and everyone else should be abolished. World War II started in 1939 with Hitler setting up concentration camps in Germany and Russia. However by 1945, when he was caught he had killed over 12 million people.
