...mistry that makes the movie a success. In the film, Sandra Bullock plays Brooklyn native Lucy Kelson, who is Legal Aid Attorney / Activist who graduated from Harvard. The movie opens with Lucy protesting the demolition of a magnificent movie palace that will be replaced by new development of the Wade Corporation. Also at stake is Coney Island’s Community Center, which holds strong personal meaning Lucy. Lucy attempts to campaign directly to company big-wig George Wade (Hugh Grant). In the process, George convinces Lucy to sign on as his chief-counsel by promising the safety of the community center. The two end up being a hilarious team, which starts with Lucy representing George in his divorce hearings. Kevin Thomas wrote, “Lucy is a zealous workaholic not without humor but lousy at cutting loose and having fun, while George is an unabashed playboy who makes few is any serious demands upon himself.” The cast and crew of the movie were successful at making “Two Weeks Notice” stand out from your average romantic comedy. Marc Lawrence, who also wrote “Miss Congeniality” starring Sandra Bullock, creates really smart and extremely likable characters for his films.
